STRIPES IN THE CITY

10 July 2013

(Top, Cotton On. Skirt, Supre. Belt, ASOS. Glitter flats, Wild Pair. Bag, The Iconic. Sunglasses, Dotti. Necklace, Pascoes. Bracelet, Forever New. Rings, Lovisa.)

I would definitely classify myself as a City Girl at heart, so my first day in Brisbane (excluding the actual first day which consisted of sleeping off jet lag) had to be a trip to the CBD. Gregor and I took the train in because a) we didn't have a car to use and b) parking apparently costs a crazy $20 an hour. The city is enormous in comparison to my usual Auckland CBD, although that's probably expected when you live in a country of only 4 million people.

The outfit shots were taken at South Bank, a gorgeous little area that lies on the opposite side of the river (some snaps of that to come!). I choose to wear this flowy chiffon skirt and a light top because it was so warm and sunny that day; it definitely did not feel like the middle of Winter! I finished off the look with some pastel & gold accents, including my favourite 1&20 Blackbirds satchel

For a bite to eat, we stopped in at LR Sushi on Adelaide St, which had an amazing selection of jumbo sized sushi for about $2.50 each. We were lucky that we went outside of peak hours; the queue for this place is said to be crazy long at lunch times. They had some really interesting filling combos, including fruit, which I'd never seen in sushi before. So along with my favourite salmon & avocado roll, I also tried out the sweet chilli prawn & peach one; and it was really good! I would definitely order it again, give it a try if you haven't already.

We finished off the day by seeing Despicable Me 2 at the Southbank Cineplex cinema, where tickets only cost $6.50! I'm not sure how much movie tickets cost in other parts of the world, but that's about half the price of tickets in NZ. It was dark by the time we came out, so I managed to get some pretty night shots of the city looking rather dazzling with all it's lights reflecting off the water.
